Summer 2025 Activities
Greetings all! Lots of information (and LOTS of links) in here, so please read the whole thing and take action on the things that need action.
Our first performance was at the Kalamazoo Growlers Game on July 18, playing the National Anthem.
Excited to get the rust off and get started with the music for the season. Colorguard section has this time set aside for “catch-up” opportunities for those that have been missing their regularly scheduled Thursday rehearsals.
Basics Days-
Rookies ONLY, July 29; 9a-5p
Bring a large water bottle and lunch for yourself this day. Tennis shoes (no sandals/crocs) and sunscreen are non-negotiable must-haves. We will have large coolers of water to refill bottles throughout the day to stay hydrated.
FULL Band, July 30; 9a-5p
Large water, lunch, tennis shoes, sunscreen!
Band Camp-
Full ensemble leaves Saturday, Aug 2 and will perform back in the stadium on Aug 8 at 6p. Camp is at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster, IN. Accommodations are phenomenal and our cooks make sure that all dietary needs are met and the performers are fueled up. We will have medical staff dispensing all medications and taking care of injuries that may occur throughout the week.
Camp health form here. (this will also be handed out on basics days)
Health form will be turned in at luggage check-in on Friday Aug 1 from 6-9p (this is drop in, not a 3 hour commitment). Bring medication in original bottle for the full week, have inhalers with you, and health form filled out completely. Chaperones will go through luggage to make sure you have everything you need and nothing you shouldn’t have.
Volunteering-
It takes a literal army to help our kids do all of the things they love doing, and one of those things is being a part of the Big Red Machine. We need EVERY family to commit to being a part of our Big Red Team. Find at least four things that you can do to help out the team. We have approx. 500 opportunities, so we're sure you can find something that you might actually enjoy doing!
Merchandise/Apparel-
Each student will receive a uniform (center chest logo) shirt to be worn with the full band uniform every time we perform. Student performers will also be receiving a show themed t-shirt for themselves as well. Other Big Red Machine merchandise can be purchased through our online store here. We even have some fun t-shirts to show our love for the cooks at camp, “The Texas Boys”.
If you haven’t stayed connected with us, please plan to check out the happenings here on our website vicksburgbands.com. Please note that social media posts (FB, Instagram) are more during the moment with events and much less with carrying important informational content.
The “Band App” is the daily connection tool we use to keep students and parents informed about rehearsal changes or info on weather, etc. THIS is where you as a parent want to be connected!
We have different additional groups to be a part of if you’re interested in food crew, prop crew, uniform crew, etc.
Please find Mr. Rosier and Mr. Bennett through email or phone so that we can assist with questions that you may have about anything you can’t find the answers to. A few major things that we divide up;
Balances (camp or trip)- Rosier
Attendance- Bennett
Social Media- Bennett
